In-Clinic Diagnostics

LAVet Hospital’s in-house laboratory makes it possible for us to offer a wide range of testing that helps us keep tabs on your pet’s overall health condition. Our on-site testing capability enables us to get results back quickly so that we can start treatment right away and get your pet feeling better. Typical tests that we perform in the clinic include CBCs, chemistry panels, heartworm tests, pancreatitis tests, Parvo tests, Giardia tests, fecal evaluation, in-house dermatology tests to look at specific skin lesions, and ear cytology.

We can typically have results from these tests within 15 to 30 minutes. We do send off annual wellness profiles (full bloodwork) to an outside lab for economical purposes, and we usually have the results back within 24 hours.

Cytological examinations of skin masses are done in-house to assess that a good diagnostic sample has been obtained. Official evaluations by clinical pathologists are obtained within 24-48 hours after samples are sent off to our Diagnostic Laboratory.
