Dr. Blake Marcello
Dr. Blake grew up in Thibodaux, Louisiana. Blake J. Marcello is a 2009 graduate from St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine and finished his veterinary training at LSU School of Veterinary Medicine. He is a Thibodaux native and returning to his community has always been one of his top priorities.
Dr. Blake served 15 years in the Houma and Raceland communities through Marcello Veterinary Hospital. The clinics were acquired by PetVet in April 2022 and Dr. Blake remained as medical director until April 2024. When not working, he enjoys hunting, fishing, spending time with his family, and working in the Thibodaux community.
Dr. Astrid Marcello
Dr. Astrid grew up in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She performed her undergraduate studies in Mayaguez, PR. Her love of animals started at an early age. She knew she wanted to become a veterinarian after volunteering every summer at her pets’ veterinary clinic and working with a board-certified veterinary surgeon.
She is a 2009 graduate from LSU School of Veterinary Medicine. She performed two additional years of internship training in Missouri and Illinois. She returned to LSU for her small animal medical oncology residency. She became Board Certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) in the specialty of Medical Oncology in 2014.
Dr. Blake and Dr. Astrid met at LSU School of Veterinary Medicine in 2008.
Dr. Bill Marcello
Following in the occupational footsteps of his father, C.J. “Doc” Marcello, Dr. William Marcello attended LSU School of Veterinary Medicine. He started his own practice in Mathews in February 1982. One month later, he opened a second clinic on Houma’s Grand Caillou Road. When his son, Dr. Blake Marcello, became a licensed veterinarian, a decision was made to close the Grand Caillou location and build a new, large, practice on the west side of Houma in 2010.
Dr. William has served the Lafourche and Terrebonne parishes for over 40 years and is excited to see patients in his hometown of Thibodaux.
Dr. Buffy
Originally from Morgan City, Louisiana, Dr. Buffy grew up immersed in the local shrimping and commercial fishing industry—her father even owns his own shrimp boat. Her early involvement in FFA (Future Farmers of America), where she competed in speech and livestock judging events, sparked her lifelong love for animals and agriculture.
A proud valedictorian of the Assumption High School Class of 2012, Dr. Buffy went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in Animal Science with a concentration in dairy production from LSU. She continued her veterinary journey at Ross University on the island of St. Kitts—a place she fondly calls her “second home”—before completing her clinical year at Auburn University, graduating in 2020.
Dr. Buffy is especially passionate about internal medicine, behavior medicine, and surgery, and she finds the greatest joy in reuniting pets with their families after a hospital stay.
When she’s not in the clinic, you can find her enjoying time with her husband Austin, their daughter Charlotte, and their extended family.
